Does Yamaha have fuel additives for ethanol-blended (E-10) fuel?

Yes. We have two fuel additives for ethanol blended fuel; Ring Free PLUS and Fuel Stabilizer and Conditioner PLUS. Fuel Stabilizer and Conditioner PLUS, when added to fresh fuel, will help keep you fuel fresh for up to a year. When used with ethanol-blended (E10) fuels, it has rust inhibitors and aluminum corrosion inhibitors that will help protect your fuel system from ethanol-related corrosion. Ring Free PLUS will debond carbon from valves and pistons rings and also break down varnish. When used with ethanol-blended fuels, it will help protect electrical parts and fittings in the fuel system against the corrosive effects of sulfur compounds found in those fuels.

How can I avoid carbon buildup in my Yamaha outboard?

Carbon buildup occurs in every engine as a residual effect of combustion. By using Yamalube Ring Free Fuel Additive, carbon build up can be removed from your pistons, intake and exhaust valves, piston rings and cylinder walls. Keeping these components free of carbon buildup is essential in maintaining performance and operational efficiency. If you use ethanol blended (E10) fuel, choose Ring Free PLUS. This formulation was specifically designed for E10 fuels. This special formulation also protects against the corrosive effects of sulfur compounds on electrical parts and fittings in the fuel system.

I am about to buy a new boat and have a wide selection of engines to choose from. How do I know I am getting enough horsepower?

Currently Yamaha has approximately 1,700 Performance Bulletins available for review. A Performance Bulletin is a performance test completed directly by Yamaha’s engineers. They can show you a wide array of information including planning speed, wide open throttle, fuel efficiency, and test specifications. Though we have a wide selection of Performance Bulletins, there are many thousands of boat applications not tested by Yamaha directly. In this instance, please consult your boat manufacturer for horsepower suggestions.

What product can I spray on my outboard engine to protect it from the elements, rust, and corrosion?

Silicone Spray Protectant & Lubricant. By spraying this on your metal and rubber surfaces (avoid electrical connections on OX66 and 2.6L HPDI models), you will be able to seal and protect those components. It is essential to have a clean surface space before applying. WARNING: Do not apply silicone spray while operating an outboard engine.

What propeller came with my Yamaha outboard?

Because of the multitude of different applications, most outboards do not come with a standard propeller. To find out what propeller was originally fitted on your outboard when it was sold, or to get a recommendation for a propeller, contact your boat manufacturer or selling dealer. For a recommended propeller, you can also look at our performance bulletins for your application or a similar one. Here is a list of Yamaha engines that do come with a standard aluminum prop.
