It’s All About the Package

Fuel efficiency, lack of noise and vibration, a strong charging system, power and speed all add up to the perfect boat and motor combination.

By George Mitchell

When it comes to boat ownership, it’s really all about having the right package for what you want to do. The more your boat, engines and all the components work together, the more effectively you can fish and operate, and the better performance and fuel economy you’ll get. Essentially, that all equates to happiness.

Try These Tricks For Better Shallow Water Performance

Refer to the Performance Bulletins on the Yamaha Website and don’t feel the need to gun the engine to get out of the hole

By Ron Hueston

The more I run my Skeeter ZX22 Bay boat the more I like it and learn how to get the most from my boat and motor. After a year of running that boat I’ve got the holeshot figured out and seem to be getting more speed at lower rpm’s because I know the “sweet spot” on the jackplate that gives me the best performance.

Yamaha Offers Help With Ethanol Fuels

Try these methods of keeping your fuel system clean while improving the performance and longevity of your motor.

By Rick Murphy

The use of Ethanol (E-10) fuel versus non-ethanol fuel has become a concern with a lot of boaters these days, particularly if you have an older Yamaha outboard motor like the 115 h.p. carbureted Yamaha outboard I have on my 18 Hewes Bonefisher in the Bahamas. The main concerns with fuel containing Ethanol is that they tend to attract moisture, dissolve hoses and fiberglass gas tanks and also that Ethanol (E-10) is not as efficient as Ethanol free gasoline.

Here’s How One Pro Rigs Out His Boat

From rig-out to break-in, I have a plan and follow it

By Mark Menendez

I have spent most of the fall behind the computer doing a lot of writing. In the last couple of years I developed several outlets for articles on fishing and have published 35 or 40 pieces already this fall.

It’s been a lot of fun writing these pieces which have opened a lot of opportunity for me and led to a lot more exposure. That helps my sponsors get more exposure while I get the return of sharing my knowledge and experiences with others that love the sport. So it’s kind of a win-win situation.

Getting The Most From Your Saltwater Outboard

Follow the break-in procedure, perform standard maintenance and pay attention to your fuel system

BY Ozzie Fischer

As a fishing guide, I spend a lot more time on the water than the average boater or fisherman, but just like everyone else I need my outboard to be in the best possible shape at all times. Just to give you an idea how hard my outboards work for me, I have 1,040 hours on my 300 h.p.Yamaha V6 four stroke and it’s only a year and a half old. I know plenty of good anglers that don’t put 100 hours on their motor in the course of a year.

By Kelly Jordan

As a professional tournament fishermen I travel around the country and fish a lot of different bodies of water, from massive lakes to river systems, canals and bayous, so I see a lot of different variables on the water. I’d like to talk a little about getting the best performance from your boats given the different conditions and locations you might encounter.

Florida Bound Then It’s off to the Red River for the 2012 Bassmaster Classic

Florida and Louisiana may be southern states but the fishing will be completely different.

By: Ish Monroe

After Christmas I did some video work for a new bait I have coming out, and that kept me busy going into January when the first Bassmaster Southern Open was held on the Harris Chain in Florida. I always like coming to Florida in January because the weather is so nice and I can wear flip flops which I did throughout the event.

You can get some cold fronts that will put a chill on the water, but you also get a lot of days where the weather is in the 60s and 70s, and that was what we saw the entire time this year. I had a decent event, but didn’t finish as well as I should have.

Southern Swing Kicks Off the Season

Louisiana, Florida and Arkansas play into the first two months of the 2012 season

By: Kelly Jordon

I’ve been doing a lot of deer hunting in the off season, but now that we’re getting into February, I’ll be getting back to the fishing business. My new Skeeter FX20 with 250 h.p. Yamaha VMAX SHO four stroke just arrived at my local dealer, so I’ll pick it up at the end of the week, spend a couple of days rigging it out and then use my new truck to take it in so they both can be wrapped at the same time.
